Reelcraft / Client direction

The Reelcraft
Footage Guide.

Keep the original footage. We make it difficult to scroll past.

Quick capture checklist

Shoot vertical, use clean light, capture 10–20 separate original clips, and send one share link when you are ready. No conversion step.

The assignment

Capture the feeling.
Leave the edit to us.

You do not need a film crew or a file-prep workflow. You need clean, intentional vertical moments. Reelcraft handles the technical preparation before shaping them into a 5–8 second loop worth watching twice.

Ready to capture? Start the brief first; we will focus the shot list.

Start a brief

Before you press record

Four clean decisions.

  1. 01

    Clean the lens

Wipe it before every setup. A soft, clean frame gives us more room to make it cinematic.

  2. 02

    Shoot vertical

Use 9:16 from the start. Keep your phone upright and avoid rotating clips later.

  3. 03

    Use 4K / 30fps

Choose 4K at 30fps when your camera offers it. Do not worry if it does not — a clean clip matters more.

  4. 04

    Leave it untouched

No filters, slow motion, captions, in-app edits or beauty effects. Send the raw camera files.

What to send

Small clips.
Strong choices.

10–20 separate clips, each 2–5 seconds. Keep the original files in full quality so we can choose the frames that carry the reel.

Do not add music, voiceover, screenshots, text overlays or stitched montages. Keep every take separate and raw.

Give us options, not duplicates. Shift the angle, distance, light or action so the edit has contrast to work with.

The shots we need

Give the reel somewhere to go.

Capture each of these in your own visual language. They work for fashion, jewelry, artists, restaurants and personal brands alike.

  1. 01

    Establish / wide

Show the whole world first: a table being set, a gallery wall, a look in motion, a hotel corner, or the room before the reveal.

  2. 02

    Hero close-up

Move close to the one thing people should remember: a ring catching light, a plated dish, a painted edge, a face, or a fabric detail.

  3. 03

    Texture / detail

Find the tactile frame: steam, grain, chrome, brushstrokes, stitching, glass, skin or a label — hold long enough for us to feel it.

  4. 04

    Hands / process

Capture one purposeful touch: clasping a necklace, placing a plate, adjusting a sleeve, signing artwork, or opening a door.

  5. 05

    Movement / reveal

Let something enter, turn, open, pour, pass through light, or come into focus. Keep the action simple and complete.

  6. 06

    The unexpected moment

Send one visual interruption: a flash reflection, a wind catch, a surprising angle, an imperfect laugh, or an object behaving beautifully.

How to shoot movement

Slow is a style choice.

  • Move the camera slowly and deliberately — glide, drift or gently push in.
  • Give each clip one action only: pour, turn, place, open, walk or reveal.
  • Hold still for one second at the beginning and end of every take.
  • Avoid fast pans, quick zooms and shaky handheld footage.

Light and framing

Make the frame easy to read.

  • Use window light or clean directional light. Turn off mixed overhead lighting when possible.
  • Avoid backlit silhouettes unless that shadow is the point of the shot.
  • Leave negative space around your subject; do not crowd every edge.
  • Tap to keep the main subject sharp before you record.

What not to send

Keep the edit open.

  • Horizontal clips
  • Low-light or noisy footage
  • Talking-to-camera clips, unless we request them
  • Clips with copyrighted music already over them
  • Tiny compressed WhatsApp or Instagram exports
  • Overly fast transitions or effects

How to send your footage

Start with the brief.

Paste one iCloud Drive, Google Drive or OneDrive link into your brief. We download the original files directly, so we do not rely on browser previews to review your footage.

  1. 01

    Share one link

From your phone, share one folder or collection link with download access. iCloud Drive, Google Drive and OneDrive all work.

  2. 02

    Leave every clip original

MOV, HEVC and phone-native files are all welcome. Do not convert, export or compress clips before sending.

  3. 03

    We take it from there

Reelcraft downloads the originals, prepares them internally and replies with the creative focus and any priority shots. Need a direct file drop instead? Send the brief and we will arrange it.

Final check

Ready when your footage is.

  • 10–20 separate vertical clips selected
  • Each clip is 2–5 seconds with a still start and finish
  • Raw files kept in original quality
  • No music, voiceover, screenshots or stitched montages
  • Brief sent so we know the moment, message and platform
